The United States Secret Service (SS) subdued an armed man near the White House on the morning of the 9th (local time).
According to US CNN and other media on the day, an armed man near the White House confronted the SS, who are responsible for presidential security, and was shot and transported to a hospital.
According to the SS, police shared information on the 8th about a man who may have attempted suicide and who might have traveled from Indiana to Washington D.C. The SS found the man's vehicle and the man himself near the Eisenhower Executive Office Building west of the White House around midnight on the same day. When an SS agent approached shortly after midnight, the man showed a weapon. This led to an armed standoff, during which the man was shot and taken to a hospital.
