Mars 'Songsanri Bon Center' Groundbreaking in March
Gyeonggi Province will break ground this month on the ‘Songsan Ribbon Center,’ a key facility of the Songsan-myeon urban regeneration project in Hwaseong.
The Hwaseong Songsan urban regeneration project, selected in the 2020 Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport public contest, includes various initiatives such as ▲creating streets that evoke the sea ▲operating startup support consulting ▲running a renovation school ▲providing home repair support ▲and implementing resident capacity-building programs.
The Songsan-myeon area is the site of the March 1st Movement and was once the living center of western Hwaseong City. However, due to nearby development projects, decline has accelerated with the deterioration of alleyway commercial districts, population decrease, and aging residential environments.
As a result, an urban regeneration project is being promoted to revitalize the area by improving the residential environment, activating the community, and revitalizing alleyway commercial districts by utilizing the historical and cultural assets of Songsan-myeon.
The newly constructed ‘Songsan Ribbon Center’ will be located at 675 Sagang-ri, Songsan-myeon, Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do. It will be a three-story building with a total floor area of 2,875㎡, housing various resident convenience and service facilities such as youth shops, WeCook Studio (shared kitchen), customer support center, and a grape promotion hall.
In particular, with 89 parking spaces secured, it is expected to help alleviate the parking shortage at the nearby Sagang Market.

Kim Tae-su, Director of Urban Regeneration at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "We are promoting a customized regeneration project that considers the region’s history and traditions," adding, "We will strive to make this an urban regeneration project that local residents and visitors can truly experience."
