Spend 30,000 Won, Get 20,000 Won Back?... Gwangju Gwangsangu 'Jajugage' Draws Attention
Encouraging Repeat Spending
with Onnuri Gift Certificates
to Revitalize Local Businesses
The Usandong Residents' Association in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju is running the "Jajugage" project, which gives Onnuri gift certificates to customers who spend over 30,000 won at local shops to revitalize neighborhood businesses.
According to Gwangsan-gu on the 7th, "Jajugage" is an abbreviation for "Usandong Residents' Association-led Usandong Store Revitalization." From this month until May, 100 people who spend over 30,000 won each month will be selected by lottery to receive Onnuri gift certificates worth 20,000 won. The eligible stores are those affiliated with the Gwangju Sangsaeng Card.
Participation is simple. After making a purchase of over 30,000 won at a Usandong store, customers can either enter online or submit their receipt to the Usandong Administrative Welfare Center. Only receipts from purchases made in the relevant month are accepted for entry.
This project aims to encourage repeat spending by providing benefits to citizens who use local shops, in line with Gwangsan-gu's policy to support the local economy.
Kim Jongi, head of the Usandong Residents' Association, said, "I hope this initiative will help both revitalize our community and neighborhood stores, and also support citizens struggling with the burden of high prices."
