Gwangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Bang Se-hwan) held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Tanbeol Indoor Gymnasium on the 10th of San, Tanbeol-dong, on the 5th as part of the project for the successful hosting of the 2026-2027 Gyeonggi-do Sports Festival.

View original imageThis project is a sports facility donated by the private sector under the public contribution conditions following the decision (change) of the Tanbeol A and B district unit plans.
The project scale includes a building area of 3,341㎡, a total floor area of 7,083㎡, and a four-story structure. It will be constructed as a multipurpose sports facility with 2,400 seats and 107 parking spaces. The city plans to complete it before the 2026 Gyeonggi-do Sports Festival.
The Tanbeol Indoor Gymnasium will be used as a venue for various events such as table tennis, badminton, taekwondo, mountain sports, and the closing ceremony during the 2026 Gyeonggi-do Sports Festival. After the event, it will be utilized as a sports facility capable of hosting various programs and events to promote communication and harmony within the local community.
