Discussions on a Rational Fee System and Other Issues
Chungnam Province has taken action to lower district heating fees in Naepo New Town, where the provincial government office is located.
On the 5th, the province held a meeting at the Naepo Green Energy conference room, attended by representatives of the provincial government, apartment residents of Naepo New Town, officials from Naepo Green Energy, and related public officials, to discuss ways to reduce district heating fees in the Naepo area.
According to the province, there are currently 32 district heating operators nationwide, and the average residential heating fee is 116.62 won per megacalorie (Mcal).
Among these, nine operators, including those serving Naepo New Town, charge 123.55 won per Mcal, which is higher than in other regions.
The province plans to ease the economic burden on Naepo New Town residents by holding this meeting to rationally adjust the heating fee system between residents and the business operators.
At the meeting, participants focused on discussing the rate and timing of the fee reduction, collecting residents' opinions when adjusting fees, implementing future agreements, and establishing a system for ongoing discussions.
A provincial official said, "At this meeting, we discussed practical measures to reduce the burden on Naepo New Town residents," adding, "We will continue to communicate and establish a rational heating fee system."
The province plans to continue discussions based on the matters discussed at this meeting and will make an official announcement as soon as the heating fees are finalized.
