Since its establishment in 1979 to secure stable oil resources following two oil shocks in the 1970s, KNOC has faced various challenges over 46 years while promoting domestic and overseas oil development projects, but it has grown into an essential public enterprise for Korea's energy security.
In particular, despite worsening external business conditions last year, such as the decline in international oil prices and sustained high interest rates, KNOC achieved net income for the third consecutive year through efficient operation of core assets, company-wide cost reduction, and optimized fund management.
In his commemorative speech, President Kim Dong-seop stated, "The effective operation of oil reserves and the utilization of stored oil, which are the front lines of resource security, are thanks to your efforts," and emphasized, "Let us continue developing the domestic continental shelf to realize the dream of becoming an oil-producing country and to achieve effective carbon reduction."
