Lee emphasized that building a comprehensive care and childcare infrastructure is essential to address the increase in dual-income families and the low birth rate. He pledged to create a child-friendly environment through initiatives such as: ▲ attracting a public children's hospital in Damyang County ▲ establishing a public postpartum care center ▲ creating a Damyang-style public kids cafe ▲ expanding nighttime childcare ▲ and strengthening child care support.
Lee stated that he would promote the establishment of a "Damyang County Public Children's Hospital" to improve access to pediatric care within Damyang. This will allow parents to receive prompt medical attention for minor illnesses, alleviating the inconvenience of having to travel to other areas such as Gwangju.
Managing the health of mothers and newborns after childbirth is also a crucial issue. Currently, many mothers cannot get sufficient recovery time after giving birth due to the burden of postpartum care costs and a lack of facilities. To address this, Lee plans to establish a "public postpartum care center" to reduce financial burdens and provide mothers with adequate rest and professional care in a comfortable environment.
To ensure children can play safely and parents can relax together, a "Damyang-style public kids cafe" will also be created. This initiative aims to solve the shortage of indoor play facilities and provide children with diverse experiential play spaces.
With the increase in dual-income families, Lee plans to expand "nighttime extended childcare support" at daycare centers so that children can be cared for until late hours. This will allow parents to participate in economic activities with peace of mind and provide children with a stable childcare environment.
To ease the childcare burden on parents, Lee will also expand the "child care support service eligibility and support hours." In particular, an "emergency care system" will be established for families in urgent need of care, minimizing gaps in childcare services.
Lee stated, "I will build a comprehensive care and childcare infrastructure so that raising children in Damyang becomes the happiest experience for parents, creating an environment where they can raise their children with confidence," and emphasized, "By expanding childcare and care support, I will make Damyang the best child-friendly city in Korea."
Meanwhile, Lee was born in Subuk-myeon, Damyang County, and has served as an administrator at the Presidential Secretariat of the Blue House, deputy spokesperson of the Democratic Party of Korea, chief spokesperson for Moon Jaein's Gwangju campaign committee, and head of the Policy Media Office of the Democratic Party of Korea.
