Education benefits provide educational activity support funds, high school textbook fees, entrance fees, and tuition to elementary, middle, and high school students from households with income at or below 50% of the median income.
Education expenses are provided to those with income at or below 60% of the median income, based on the provincial office’s own criteria, covering high school tuition (entrance fees, tuition, and school operation support fees), school meal costs, after-school free course vouchers, and educational informatization support (PC, internet communication fees), among others.
In particular, the educational activity support fund, provided once annually to education benefit recipients, is given as a voucher (card points). The amount has been increased by an average of 5% compared to the previous year, supporting elementary students with 487,000 KRW annually, middle school students with 679,000 KRW, and high school students with 768,000 KRW.
Parents (guardians) wishing to apply for education benefits or education expense support can visit their local eup/myeon/dong community service center or apply online through Bokjiro or Education Expense One-Click.
If the education benefit voucher was received last year, the application for 2025 will be processed automatically without a separate application.
