Expansion of Eligible Categories from 3 to 201
The Ministry of Employment and Labor announced on the 4th that it will fully expand the recognition target categories after a pilot operation of the 'Partial Completion Education and Training Recognition System for Process Evaluation-Type Qualifications' that supports university students in obtaining process evaluation-type qualifications.
The process evaluation-type national technical qualification system grants national technical qualifications upon passing a practical skills-focused evaluation after completing education and training suitable for the industrial field. Compared to the examination-type qualifications, it is recognized for its high utility by both holders and companies.
Until now, university students who participated in the process evaluation-type national technical qualification education and training courses found it difficult to continue their studies after taking a leave of absence due to military service, illness, or accidents and then returning to school. To address these difficulties, the Ministry of Employment and Labor decided to expand the number of categories subject to the education and training recognition system from the existing 3 to 201.
In the future, universities wishing to have the previous completion records of returning students recognized for the process evaluation-type national technical qualification courses can identify returning students before the start of each semester and apply to the Human Resources Development Service of Korea. The Human Resources Development Service of Korea will review the applications and decide on recognition after deliberation by the operating committee.
