Minari Festival and Maesil Guksi Market Attracted Many Participants
The 2025 Wondong Maehwa Festival took place over three days from the 1st, centered around Wondong Station and the weekend market.
Although the sudden cold snap left visitors disappointed as they had hoped for full bloom of the plum blossoms, various programs and performances heated up the festival atmosphere even more.
Under the slogan "Wondong, Spring Again," the Wondong Maehwa Festival welcomed visitors with a variety of cultural events and programs. Despite the disappointment that the plum blossoms did not bloom as much as expected, the festival was still held successfully with great interest and participation from many people.
One of the main programs, the "Wondong Welcome Stage," featured busking performances that visitors could enjoy while waiting for the train, creating a lively atmosphere. Additionally, the "Maesil Guksi Market," where visitors could directly experience the taste of Wondong, was a popular corner offering maesil guksi (plum noodle soup) made with the local residents' special touch, attracting many people who enjoyed the local specialties and the charm of the festival.
Visitors to the event reported having a satisfying time despite the continuous cold wave in February causing only partial blooming of the plum blossoms. A variety of programs such as singing contests, maesil burger making, magic shows on the busking stage, winter strawberries, and sales of local specialties were prepared.
In particular, the "Minari Festival," where visitors could taste minari (water dropwort), a seasonal agricultural product of the Wondong area, was held simultaneously, drawing a steady stream of visitors eager to enjoy the fragrant and slightly bitter taste of minari. Also, at the "Maehwa Karaoke," many spectators praised the opportunity to sing and purchase minari and maesil noodles at affordable prices.
A representative from Yangsan City stated, "Despite the bad weather, the festival achieved great success with the participation and interest of many visitors," adding, "We hope this festival helped promote Wondong's nature and culture and contributed to revitalizing the local economy."
