Diageo Unveils 'Johnnie Walker 52 Years'... "The Brand's Longest Aging Ever"
The Oldest Whisky in Johnnie Walker's History
High Collectible and Investment Value at Auction
Diageo Korea's Scotch whisky brand 'Johnnie Walker' announced on the 4th that it will introduce the brand's longest-aged limited edition whisky, the global limited edition 'Johnnie Walker 52 Years,' to the Korean market for the first time.
Johnnie Walker 52 Years is a limited edition blended whisky with only 200 bottles produced worldwide, specially crafted to commemorate the blending techniques of John Walker, the founder, and his son Alexander. In particular, to honor the lives of John and Alexander, only whisky aged for more than 52 years?the age at which they passed away?was used.
To complete Johnnie Walker 52 Years, which embodies the craftsmanship and philosophy the brand pursues, six rare malt whiskies and two grain whiskies were carefully selected. Additionally, only the oldest and rarest casks from historic distilleries with deep traditions were chosen.
This includes rare whisky from ghost distilleries that have already closed. Precious whisky from ghost distilleries once owned by Diageo, located in Scotland?such as Cambus, Carsebridge, Glenury Royal, Glenlochy, and Glen Albyn?was used, adding flavors of vanilla, butterscotch, spices, and the sweetness of fruit candy.
Whisky from the legendary Brora distillery, known for its history and quality, adds a smooth smokiness and deep, distinctive flavors reminiscent of aged blue cheese. Additionally, whisky from Blair Athol and Dalwhinnie distilleries contributes fruity aromas evoking raisins and oranges, harmonizing with woody spice notes.
Johnnie Walker 52 Years is presented in custom packaging, accompanied by a luxury crystal decanter and crystal stopper. Furthermore, a separate 100mL whisky bottle in a luxury miniature crystal bottle is provided, allowing whisky collectors to both own and taste Johnnie Walker 52 Years.
Shin Hye-jung, Executive Director of Luxury and Strategic Partnerships at Diageo Korea, said, "Since 2018, Johnnie Walker has introduced the 40, 48, and 50-year global limited editions, beloved by whisky collectors worldwide. This is a very rare product being introduced in Korea for the first time. Through the ‘Diageo Private Client Service,’ launched for high-end whisky collectors in Korea, existing clients will be given the first opportunity to purchase."
