Gwangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Bang Se-hwan) held the 106th March 1st Movement Anniversary Ceremony on the 1st at the March 1st Independence Movement Memorial Tower in the National Veterans Park.

View original imageOn this day, about 300 citizens from various sectors, including descendants of independence patriots and members of veterans' organizations, attended the event. The ceremony began with a memorial service, followed by a street march reenacting the March 1st Movement, a report on the progress of the March 1st Movement by the Liberation Association, a reading of the Declaration of Independence, the singing of the March 1st Movement song, and a threefold cheer of "Manse" (Long live).
In particular, this event was meaningful as citizens of various age groups, from young children to the elderly, gathered in three generations to wave the Taegeukgi and shout "Manse" together, honoring the achievements of the patriotic martyrs and reflecting on the importance of history.
A family who participated in the event shared, "It was a meaningful time because we could let our children directly experience the significance of the independence movement."
