View original imageThe ceremony was attended by over 600 people, including families of independence activists, heads of related organizations, group leaders, and citizens, who reflected on the passionate patriotism of the March 1st Movement that declared the nation's freedom and independence to the world.
Ham Cheon-woo, Chairman of the Guri Branch of the Liberation Association, read the Declaration of Independence, and all attendees waved the Taegeukgi flag together and shouted three cheers of "Manse," recreating the resounding cries of that day.
Meanwhile, to honor the elderly families of independence activists attending the event, a transportation volunteer team provided vehicle support from arrival at the venue until their return home.
Mayor Baek Gyeong-hyun of Guri City said, “This year marks the 80th anniversary of liberation. The noble sacrifices of our patriotic martyrs and independence activists resonate more deeply in our hearts,” adding, “We will remember the courage and sacrifices of our ancestors, carry on their will, soar vigorously, and create a Guri City where more citizens can be happy without fearing challenges.”
