Goyang Special City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) has joined hands with Korea East-West Power Co., Ltd., which has been rooted in Goyang City since the development of Ilsan New Town in 1992, to expand job opportunities for Goyang citizens.

View original imageOn the 28th, Goyang Special City announced on the 1st that it signed a 'Win-win Cooperation Agreement for Revitalizing the Local Economy' with Korea East-West Power Co., Ltd. at the Ilsan Power Plant Headquarters of Korea East-West Power Co., Ltd.
Through this agreement, Korea East-West Power Co., Ltd. agreed to actively cooperate in supporting projects around the power plant, utilizing local construction companies, and expanding the employment of local residents during the modernization project of the Ilsan Combined Heat and Power Plant.
The city also plans to actively cooperate to ensure that administrative procedures such as permits and approvals proceed smoothly.
Korea East-West Power Co., Ltd. plans to invest approximately 1.3 trillion KRW in the modernization project of the Ilsan Combined Heat and Power Plant. It is expected to generate about 200 billion KRW in local economic revitalization effects, create employment for about 10,000 people, and induce production effects of approximately 2.5 trillion KRW. Additionally, it is anticipated that support projects worth about 30 billion KRW for the areas surrounding the power plant will be possible.
The Ilsan Combined Heat and Power Plant, reborn through the modernization project, plans to minimize air pollutant emissions by applying the latest environmental facilities and to become more accessible to citizens by transforming the power plant building into a park and landmark.

Mayor Lee Dong-hwan of Goyang said, “We expect that expanding employment for Goyang citizens through the power plant modernization project will be a signal for creating 300,000 jobs by 2030,” and added, “I hope this agreement will serve as a cornerstone for Goyang City to develop into a carbon-neutral, energy self-reliant, eco-friendly energy leading city, a global self-sufficient city, and achieve sustainable growth and development of the local economy.”
