The event was co-hosted by Pusan National University G-LAMP Project Group, the University of Tokyo Atmosphere and Ocean Research Institute, and the National Fisheries Research and Development Institute.
At the event, over 50 researchers and experts attended, including HYODO Susumu, Director of the Atmosphere and Ocean Research Institute at the University of Tokyo, Lee Jeong-ho, Head of Research Planning at the National Fisheries Research and Development Institute, Park Sang-hoo, Vice President for External Cooperation at Pusan National University, and Jeong Jae-hoon, Director of the G-LAMP Project Group, sharing the latest research achievements and concretizing international cooperation measures.
In particular, presentations and in-depth discussions were held on various topics related to marine science and fishery resources, including △ research on marine microplastic concentration and guidelines △ research on the Asian monsoon system and atmosphere-land interactions △ research on the behavior and life history of coastal squid △ interpretation of the evolution of the Ulleung Basin through marine magnetic anomalies.
Previously, the Pusan National University G-LAMP Project Group signed MOUs with the National Fisheries Research and Development Institute and the University of Tokyo Atmosphere and Ocean Research Institute, which is highly regarded worldwide in the field of marine climate, to promote cooperation in marine science and technology research. They have been advancing collaboration in various fields such as climate change response, marine microplastic issues, marine resource investigation and utilization, and fishery biological resource research.
This symposium was organized as an extension of such cooperation, focusing on consolidating the research capabilities of each institution to further strengthen the international joint research foundation for solving marine environmental issues.
