Korea PIM Develops Reducer Materials for Logistics Robots with Global Automakers
Korea PIM is diversifying its robot sector portfolio not only through humanoid robots but also by developing core materials for logistics robots. Korea PIM, the No. 1 MIM (Metal Injection Molding) specialist company in Korea, announced on the 28th that it is jointly developing reducer materials for logistics robots with the global automaker ‘Company A’.
Korea PIM is developing core materials for logistics robot reducers using its proprietary hybrid new material technology. This technology combines materials with different physical properties into a single product, and only two companies worldwide, including Korea PIM, are capable of mass production. The application of hybrid new material technology allows selective use of optimal physical properties for each part of the product, enabling high precision.
The materials being developed by the two companies are two types of core materials for logistics robot reducer gears. Prototype production is scheduled to be completed in the first half of this year, followed by testing. After being registered as a partner of Company A last year, Korea PIM has already completed material selection to apply its own technology and is preparing for sample production this month. The company explained that after verifying the two products first, it plans to proceed with diversification of additional products.
A Korea PIM official said, “Our proprietary hybrid new material technology is an exclusive technology of Korea PIM that allows the use of materials with different properties inside and outside the product. It can achieve high precision and strength without additional machining or heat treatment, minimizing raw material loss.”
He added, “While conducting our core business, we have secured MIM-based gear manufacturing technology, and based on the hybrid new material technology, we have completed product commercialization. This has been recognized, and we are jointly developing core materials for logistics robots with a global automaker. We plan to continue cooperation with Company A based on global technological competitiveness to continuously diversify our product portfolio in the robot sector.”
