Shin Sang-jin, mayor of Seongnam City, Gyeonggi Province, stated on the 26th regarding the incident in which a suspect who attacked a police officer with a weapon in an alley near the Geumnamno 4-ga Station intersection in Dong-gu, Gwangju, was shot and killed by the police officer's live ammunition, "Police officers are also human. I believe they should not be blamed for any wrongdoing."
Mayor Shin shared the article on social media (SNS) and said, "When a violent criminal continuously attacks the police with a weapon, and it is impossible to subdue them even with a taser or warning shots, shouldn't they be subdued with live ammunition?"
He added, "Aren't police officers human too? Wouldn't anyone act the same in such a situation?" and emphasized, "I believe this person should not be blamed for any wrongdoing against the police."
