Korean Life Improvement Nutrition County Federation Members Hold 'Love's Ribbon Sharing' Event... Practicing True Love
Yeongyang-gun, Gyeongbuk, held the ‘Love Jang Sharing’ event on the 26th at the Agricultural Technology Center courtyard to support vulnerable groups within the region.
The Korea Life Improvement Yeongyang-gun Federation purchases meju made from Yeongyang soybeans every year, makes jang (fermented soybean paste) themselves, and matures it well in jars for one year. They then personally deliver it to about 240 vulnerable households in the area, practicing warm love.
The ‘Love Jang Sharing’ event is part of the Life Improvement Members’ True Love Practice Project. Since 2007, it has been an annual event where members share doenjang (soybean paste) and ganjang (soy sauce) with elderly people living alone who have difficulty making traditional jang and other marginalized groups in the community, demonstrating the members’ love and true care for their neighbors.
Kim Jeong-ja, president of the Korea Life Improvement Yeongyang-gun Federation, said, “The jang sharing event involves hard and laborious work such as washing meju in cold weather, carefully filtering the jang, and putting it into containers, but seeing the elders happily receiving the jang gives us a sense of fulfillment.”
