Applications accepted until April 4
Women aged 60 and above eligible
Namwon City, Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province, announced on the 26th that it will hold the '9th Global Senior Chunhyang Contest' at the Chunhyang Culture and Arts Center Grand Theater on April 30.
This contest, which began to spread a proactive and productive new senior culture and to share the wisdom gained from a long life, marks its 9th year as a national event. It will be held on the first day of the Chunhyang Festival as the eve event, signaling the start of the 95th Chunhyang Festival.
Furthermore, following last year, the eligibility criteria have been expanded from women aged 60 and above to include foreign women and multicultural women aged 55 and above, establishing this as a unique local festival that combines global and senior themes, distinctive to Namwon.
For the document screening criteria, inner beauty will be evaluated based on community contribution and youthfulness scores (awards, volunteer work, social participation, etc.), while the essay score will assess touching stories from the participants' lives.
This is expected to encourage participation from various professional backgrounds, offering a variety of stories from the contestants and providing both fun and inspiration.
Applications will be accepted for 47 days until April 4, with preliminary screening on April 7 and the final contest scheduled for April 30.
Mayor Choi Kyungshik stated, "As the role and proportion of the elderly in our super-aged society continue to grow, the activities of seniors in various fields become increasingly important. In that sense, the Global Senior Chunhyang Contest is a wonderful opportunity to share the wisdom and know-how of life with the younger generation."
He added, "I hope that many wonderful senior women and foreign women from across the country and around the world will participate and make this a shining day in their lives."
