The prosecution investigating allegations of illicit payment for opinion polls related to Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon has launched a forced investigation into businessman Kim Han-jung, known as a sponsor. The special prosecution team (led by Deputy Chief Prosecutor Lee Ji-hyung) investigating the 'Myung Tae-gyun allegations' conducted a search and seizure at Kim's residence and office on the morning of the 26th.

Kim is suspected of personally paying about 30 million won for opinion poll costs to Myung's side during the 2021 Seoul mayoral by-election. Mayor Oh's camp has stated that the allegations are unrelated to the election campaign at that time. The prosecution transferred the Myung Tae-gyun case from Changwon District Prosecutors' Office to Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office on the 17th and is currently conducting an investigation.
