Kia Seltos and Soul Recalled for 140,000 Units in the US Due to Engine Damage Concerns
Possibility of Manufacturing Defects in Piston Oil Rings
Kia is recalling 137,256 Seltos and Soul series vehicles in the United States.
On the 25th (local time), major foreign media reported that the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) stated that the piston oil rings used in these vehicles may have been improperly manufactured, which could lead to engine damage.
The recall applies to 2021-2023 model year Seltos and Soul series vehicles.

According to NHTSA, the recall will be conducted by inspecting the vehicles through dealers, and if necessary, replacing the engine and installing software related to the piston ring noise detection system free of charge.
