"Marine Healing Wando" Soars as a Global Brand... Strategy Forum Held
Discussion on Strategies for Promoting, Marketing, and Revitalizing Tourism
Wando County in South Jeolla Province announced on the 25th that it held the “Public Brand Forum and Win-Win Agreement Ceremony for the Revitalization of Marine Healing in Wando” at the Wando Culture and Arts Center on the 24th.
This forum was hosted by Wando County and organized by the Korea Public Brand Promotion Institute, with experts in marine healing, branding, and tourism, as well as local residents and public officials in attendance. Under the theme “Healing Human & Earth with Marine,” the forum reviewed the current status of the “Marine Healing Wando” brand and served as a venue to discuss promotional and marketing strategies for popularizing marine healing and ways to boost tourism.

View original imageThe “Marine Healing Wando” brand aims to deliver the value of healing to visitors and envisions transforming the city into a “city that heals the world” by expanding the scope of the healing industry beyond marine healing to include forestry, agriculture, and culture. Prior to the forum, Wando County and the Korea Public Brand Promotion Institute signed a business agreement to enhance brand value.
County Governor Shin Woochul stated, “It is important to promote the ‘Marine Healing Wando’ brand widely to improve public health and secure the future of the marine industry,” adding, “We will do our utmost to ensure that Marine Healing Wando becomes a trusted and valuable brand and serves as a driving force to broaden the horizons of the marine healing industry.”
The county plans to use this forum as an opportunity to continuously explore the development direction of the marine healing industry and to implement various policies to strengthen urban competitiveness through the use of public brands. The forum featured presentations on topics such as ▲Analysis and proposals for the Marine Healing Wando brand ▲Promotion and marketing directions for the marine healing industry ▲Expansion of the marine healing concept and strategies for revitalizing tourism, followed by a comprehensive discussion with participating experts.
Professor Lee Heebok emphasized, “To clarify the identity of Marine Healing Wando, we must strengthen brand communication strategies to secure both domestic and international competitiveness.” Professor Park Jaehang suggested, “For Wando’s marine healing industry to be competitive in the global market, it is necessary to analyze domestic and international healing marketing cases and establish a differentiated, systematic marketing strategy unique to Wando.” Writer Lee Hwaja stressed, “For marine healing to become a sustainable industry, it is important to develop differentiated healing tourism content unique to Wando, going beyond the simple concept of healing.”
Meanwhile, Wando County has actively promoted the marine healing industry as a future growth engine for over a decade. The Wando Marine Healing Center, which opened in 2023 as the first of its kind in Korea, has welcomed 64,000 visitors to date and has established itself as a wellness tourism destination. Not only has the center achieved high satisfaction among visitors, but it has also been recognized for its public value in social and environmental fields, earning the honor of receiving the “Grand Prix,” the highest award from the Korea Public Brand Awards.
