KoraTe to Hold Special Lecture and Talk Concert in Mokpo
Event Aims to Support Local Youth and Revitalize the Regional Economy
The Korea Round Table (KoraTe), an association of Korea's top experts, announced on the 25th that it will hold a special lecture and talk concert for local youth and businesspeople on the 1st of next month at 2 p.m. at the Kim Daejung Nobel Peace Prize Memorial Hall multipurpose auditorium, lasting for two hours.
KoraTe, a gathering of the nation's leading experts, will visit Mokpo, the representative city of the Southwest region, which has been declining due to population decrease and changes in industrial structure, to deliver a special lecture and talk concert to young entrepreneurs as part of its social contribution and talent donation efforts.
In particular, experts from various fields of the Korean economy will gather in one place for lectures and discussions, raising expectations among young entrepreneurs who hope to revitalize Mokpo through this event.
KoraTe (Korea Round Table), led by President Park Heejung (formerly of Samsung Economic Research Institute), started as a non-political, purely academic group. For the past 10 years, it has met without fail once a month to seriously discuss and share knowledge on domestic and international real economy issues.

The group has a tradition of accepting members based on the highest level of expertise, character, and reputation in their respective fields, resulting in great pride among its members.
President Park Heejung said, "During the three days that KoraTe members will stay in Mokpo, we will walk around the city to witness firsthand the seriousness of local population decline. We hope to help revitalize the local economy by sharing our accumulated experience and expertise in various fields with local youth and entrepreneurs as a form of talent donation."
He added, "However, since members have their own work on weekdays, we are visiting Mokpo during the holiday period. We hope that local businesspeople and young people will show great interest."
Meanwhile, Choi Jungkyu, a senior partner at Boston Consulting Group and a KoraTe member who is scheduled to give a special lecture at this talk concert, is currently leading financial consulting projects for Southeast Asian countries in Singapore. He returned to Korea urgently for this Mokpo talk concert.
Choi Jungkyu is a leading figure in the first generation of Korean management consultants in foreign firms. He also proposed the establishment of government support systems and conditions for music, film, theater, and culture, which can be considered the roots of today's K-culture. He is also famous as the author of the recent domestic management bestseller "I Also Want to Work Like a Consultant."
The main topics of the special lecture will include the causes of population decline in Korea and Mokpo, strategies for revitalizing the local economy, successful domestic and Asian overseas case studies of local economic revitalization and population growth, and ways for Mokpo to increase its population and boost its economy.
Other members participating in the talk concert include Lee Baeksun, former ambassador to Australia and a diplomatic expert with over 30 years of experience; Kang Eunhee, CEO of NIC and planner of "The Immortal Painter Van Gogh" exhibition; Choi Youngseok, CEO of Charge-In, an electric vehicle battery specialist; Lim Jinseo, CEO of The Saem International; Jung Younghoon, director at Gore Korea; Lee Changhan, dean of the College of Police and Criminal Justice at Dongguk University; Jeon Hyungjung, head of the Neosil Working Group; Cho Wondong, former Blue House chief economic advisor; Kim Byungkyu, advisor at Sejong Law Firm (former director of the Tax Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Economy and Finance); Kim Nakhwe, former commissioner of the Korea Customs Service; and other experts from various fields. They will meet with Mokpo's youth and local businesspeople to discuss ways to promote regional economic development.
