Oh Se-hoon: "Yoon should deliver a message of national unity as part of taking responsibility"
On Hong Joon-pyo's Pledge to Resign as Mayor:
"Inappropriate to Comment Before Constitutional Court Ruling"
On the "Myeong Tae-gyun Special Prosecutor Act":
"An Attempt to Undermine Ruling Party Presidential Candidates"
On the 25th, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon expressed ahead of President Yoon Suk-yeol's final arguments in the impeachment trial, "It would be best if there were words urging national unity in the spirit of tying up loose ends." The Constitutional Court will conclude the impeachment trial in the afternoon after President Yoon's final statement. It has been 73 days since the impeachment motion was submitted to the Constitutional Court.
Mayor Oh, speaking to reporters at the 'Seoul-Gimpo SeoulLearn Business Agreement Ceremony' at Gimpo City Hall that morning, said in response to related questions, "I expect the president to mention the inevitability of martial law in his final statement," adding these remarks.

The business agreement focuses on jointly utilizing SeoulLearn, Seoul's educational welfare platform, with Gimpo City. SeoulLearn is an online education platform started by Seoul in 2021, providing free internet lectures to low-income elementary, middle, and high school students. Mayor Oh also stated, "If any local government nationwide wants it, I am willing to run and promote nationwide expansion."
Regarding Hong Joon-pyo, another presidential candidate from the ruling party and mayor of Daegu, who announced he would resign from his mayoral position if an early presidential election is held, Mayor Oh refrained from commenting, saying, "The Constitutional Court's decision will come after more time passes, so I think it is proper not to mention candidacy or related matters until then."
However, he expressed concerns that the 'Myeong Tae-gyun Special Prosecutor Act,' which passed the National Assembly's bill review subcommittee led by the opposition party, could be politically exploited. Mayor Oh said, "Myeong Tae-gyun and his lawyers hide the essence and inflate suspicions with trivial matters," adding, "Even if a special prosecutor is appointed, I expect similar behavior to be repeated." He continued, "The core issue is to clarify who and through what channels the unpublished opinion poll, allegedly created by Myeong, came to our campaign," criticizing, "We have been urging this for five to six months, but they have not mentioned it."

Meanwhile, the People Power Party announced plans to request Choi Sang-mok, Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, to exercise the right of reconsideration (veto) against the Myeong Tae-gyun Special Prosecutor Act, which was forcibly passed by the opposition party. The special prosecutor law targets political broker Myeong Tae-gyun's alleged illegal and false opinion polls during the 2022 presidential and local elections, as well as last year's general election, and suspected nomination deals. The People Power Party expressed concerns, stating, "It is an all-encompassing investigative law targeting the entire political sphere and will have a significantly negative impact."
