Korea PIM Discusses Supplying Core Materials for Gear Reducers with Global Humanoid Robot Companies
Korea PIM is set to achieve the first breakthrough in the humanoid robot field based on its unparalleled technology. Korea PIM, the nation's leading company in MIM (Metal Injection Molding) technology, announced on the 25th that it is currently in discussions to supply reducer materials to global humanoid robot company A.
Global company A is recognized for its leading technology in the field of robotics and is developing humanoid robots using its own technology. Korea PIM is advancing the preliminary development of key reducer materials applied to the joints of humanoid robots using titanium-based MIM technology. Korea PIM is conducting tests by applying its own reducer materials to A’s humanoid robots and aims to supply commercial quantities in the second half of the year.
Korea PIM has not only secured unique titanium-based MIM mass production technology but also established mass production capabilities. Through the advancement of MIM equipment, it has succeeded in applying titanium, which is difficult to process, to MIM. With a domestic production base equipped with large-scale production capacity (CAPA), rapid mass production response is possible.
To strengthen the technological entry barriers in the humanoid robot field, Korea PIM recently began advancing its titanium-based technology. Miniaturization and weight reduction of components such as reducers are essential for humanoid robots to achieve precise movements. Korea PIM plans to enhance its competitiveness in the humanoid robot sector through MIM technology capable of mass-producing ultra-precision materials and further advancement of titanium-based technology.
A Korea PIM representative said, “We have proven our technological capabilities through supply to global companies in various industries such as automotive electronics, IT, and autonomous driving, and based on the references we have secured, we recently started supply discussions with a global humanoid robot company. This global company, preparing for mass production of humanoid robots, decided to collaborate with Korea PIM, which can manufacture and mass-produce ultra-precision titanium materials.”
