Gwangju Office of Education Finalizes Audit Plan for This Year... Accelerating Integrity Education
Enhancing Effectiveness Through Intensive and Customized Audits in High-Risk Areas
Strict Measures Planned Against Acts Undermining Integrity
The Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 25th that it has finalized this year's internal audit plan and will launch audit activities to promote integrity in Gwangju's education system.
The audits will cover a total of 84 institutions, including 4 comprehensive audits, 55 financial and special audits, and 25 self-audits. In particular, special audits will be expanded in high-risk areas such as the operation of school sports teams, the hiring practices of temporary teachers, and the management of after-school programs. If any misconduct is found in the six major corruption-prone areas, immediate audits will be conducted.
The effectiveness of audits will also be enhanced through customized audits tailored to the characteristics and needs of each school. Previously, audit types were determined by school level, but starting this year, autonomy will be ensured to fit each school's circumstances. In addition, pre-consulting, routine audits, and on-site integrity audit consulting will be expanded to encourage staff to engage in proactive administration.
Strict measures will be taken against passive administration, abuse of authority, sexual misconduct, and accounting fraud, all of which undermine integrity.
Superintendent Lee Jeongseon stated, "Through audits focused on communication and support, we will spread responsible administration and realize an integrity-driven education system in Gwangju."
