The city has been operating public late-night pharmacies since 2022 to fill the medical gap during late-night hours and to allow citizens to conveniently purchase medicines. Previously, the pharmacies operated were Bokgwangdang Pharmacy in Jain-myeon, Joa Pharmacy in Oksan-dong, and Euddeum Pharmacy in Jeongpyeong-dong, open every night from 10 PM to 1 AM the next day.
The newly added Jungnim Pharmacy and Sangroksu Pharmacy will operate from 8 PM to 11 PM on weekdays. Jungnim Pharmacy was designated considering the distribution of pharmacies in the area and accessibility for users, while Sangroksu Pharmacy, as a pharmacy in an exception area for pharmaceutical separation, can dispense medicines without a prescription, which is expected to greatly improve residents’ access to medicines during late-night hours.
Mayor Cho Hyun-il said, “I thank the pharmacists who are working hard to ensure a safe environment for citizens to use medicines until late hours,” and added, “We will spare no support to ensure the stable operation of public late-night pharmacies so that citizens can purchase medicines and receive consultations without inconvenience even at night.”
