Naju City Issues Mobile Resident Registration Cards...Improved Convenience
Available for Use at Financial Institutions and Hospitals
Naju City, Jeollanam-do announced on the 25th that it has officially begun issuing mobile resident registration cards.
The mobile resident registration card can be used in administrative agencies, financial institutions, hospitals, and other places in the same way as the physical resident registration card. It can also be used as a means of identity verification at unmanned civil service issuance machines.
In the future, its usage is expected to expand further to include mobile financial services and major public services. However, if a report is made regarding the loss of the physical resident registration card or the mobile phone, the validity of the mobile resident registration card will be suspended. Until the 27th of next month, the mobile resident registration card can only be applied for at the administrative welfare center in the applicant's registered area of residence. Starting from the 28th, it will be available for issuance anywhere in the country.
To receive the card, the applicant must install the 'Korea Mobile ID' app on a mobile phone registered under their own name. There are two ways to apply. First, by using a resident registration card with an embedded IC chip, the card can be issued immediately by simply tapping the phone, without visiting the administrative welfare center. The IC resident registration card is free for new issuances, but a fee is charged for changing an existing resident registration card.
The second method uses the existing physical resident registration card. By scanning an issuance QR code at the administrative welfare center, the card can be issued immediately. However, if the mobile phone is replaced or the app is deleted, reissuance will be required.
Kim Miryeong, head of the Naju City Citizen Service Division, stated, "With the introduction of the mobile resident registration card, the inconvenience of having to carry a physical ID will be reduced, and identity verification will become safer and more convenient."
