"Bodybuilder Overcomes Limits, Struggles to Pose with Trembling Body, Inspiring the World"
A video of a Swedish man who overcame physical limitations caused by cerebral palsy to participate in a bodybuilding competition is becoming a sensation worldwide.
On the 24th, a video of Adam Melruk (28), who participated in a bodybuilding championship held in Sweden last September, was shared on various social networking services (SNS) and online communities under the title "Cerebral Palsy Bodybuilder."
The video shows Melruk posing to the music on stage. Due to the constant trembling caused by cerebral palsy symptoms, there was not a single pose he could easily hold at once. However, as Melruk showcased his well-toned muscles in various poses, applause and cheers erupted from the audience.
According to a recent interview released by the local Swedish media HD, Melruk, who has had cerebral palsy since birth, started bodybuilding at the age of 21. He came across a video on Facebook of a man with cerebral palsy striking bodybuilding poses at a competition in the United States, which inspired him.
Melruk said, "I thought I wanted to stand on that stage too. Standing on stage, showing myself, and sharing emotions and love felt like a dream." He confessed, "Because of cerebral palsy, all the muscles in my body are always moving," and "I had to work much harder than others to build muscles." He also said, "It was really difficult to pose because my muscles moved unconsciously."
Melruk first participated in a bodybuilding competition in 2022. In 2024, he successfully competed in the Swedish Championship. Since then, he has gained significant attention and currently has 70,000 followers on Instagram. The media evaluated, "Melruk showed the world that even cerebral palsy is not an obstacle if you have a dream."
Melruk said, "Bodybuilding is a fight against not only physical limits but also social limits," adding, "If you overcome limits, you can go as far as you want." He also added that after receiving messages from people who found hope by watching him, he vowed to become a "responsible bodybuilder."
