The spirit of the March 1st Independence Movement, which first echoed in Yeongsan-myeon, Changnyeong-gun, Gyeongnam Province on March 13, 1919, has been revived as a new road name.
Changnyeong-gun announced on the 24th that the road section from Namsan National Defense Park, where the Yeongsan March 1st Independence Movement Monument is located, to Yeongsan Rotary has been named "Samil Manse-gil" (March 1st Manse Road).

View original imageThe March 1st Movement in Yeongsan-myeon began when a group of 23 members read a resolution at Namsan Peak, spreading throughout Yeongsan-myeon and reaching Changnyeong-eup. They fought against Japanese colonial rule with bare hands, carrying out independence activities, and this event is regarded as the first spark of the independence movement in the Gyeongnam region.
