Checking the Status of Fishing Vessels and Risk Factors
"Thorough Monitoring" Urged
The West Sea Regional Coast Guard Headquarters (Chief Lee Myungjun) conducted an on-site inspection in the Wando jurisdiction on the 22nd to check the safety management of congested waters and the readiness of field rescue forces, following a recent series of maritime accidents.

View original imageAccording to the West Sea Headquarters on the 24th, Lee Jonguk, Director of Safety Management, visited the Wando Port VTS (Vessel Traffic Service Center) to check the status of fishing vessels and potential risk factors, urging thorough monitoring, and inspected the safety management status of multi-purpose vessels and fishing boats at Wando Port.
He also patrolled the waters near the Jindo Uldolmok Tidal Power Plant, checking the status of fishing vessels and identifying risk factors related to the prevention of accidents involving passing ships.
Lee Jonguk, Director of Safety Management, stated, "Due to the recent strong seasonal winds and high waves, a series of fishing vessel accidents have occurred, so we have declared a special maritime safety alert period until the 15th of next month. We will focus on managing vulnerable vessels and work to eliminate safety hazards through joint inspections with related agencies, doing our utmost to protect public safety and prevent maritime accidents in advance."
