Sancheong-gun Theater Group Keundeul to Hold Tour Performances in 5 Japanese Cities
Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam-based theater company Geukdan Keundeul announced on the 24th that they will hold a touring performance in five Japanese cities from March 12 to 20.
Invited by Roon (a music appreciation group) in Japan, the performances will take place in Ube, Himeji, Shiso, Tokorozawa, and Tokyo.
The performance will feature pungmul punggut as well as a Korean traditional play, "Ojakgyo Arirang," adapted into Japanese.
"Ojakgyo Arirang" dramatizes the wedding process of Namdol from the lower village and Kkotbuni from the upper village, who had turned their backs on each other for 70 years.
With various attractions such as traditional Korean weddings and the custom of sending wedding gifts, it is expected to offer Japanese audiences a glimpse of Korea's traditional performing arts.
In particular, the performance is designed to incorporate the characteristics of Madanggeuk, a Korean-style outdoor theater, allowing Japanese audiences to join on stage.
