Jeju Modern History Story 'Jeju Hang' Published by Novelist Oh Kyung-hoon Passes Away
Novelist Oh Kyung-hoon, who published the literary work "Jeju Port," which artistically depicts the modern and contemporary history of Jeju centered around Jeju Port, passed away on the 22nd.
The late Oh Kyung-hoon was recognized as a model of Jeju literature, continuing his vigorous creative passion even in his old age.
He closely explored the complex historical and realistic meanings of Jeju Island and expressed them through his literary works.
Born in Jeju in 1944, the late writer worked as a teacher and later as a journalist. In the 1980s, he was active as a member of the "Gyeongjakjidae" literary group and published several novels. After debuting in 1987 with a recommendation from "Hyundae Munhak," he released collections such as the short story collection "Exile," the novel "Years of Silence," and the serialized novel "Jeju Port."

The late author's funeral is being held at Jeju National University Hospital Funeral Hall, and the funeral procession will take place at 6:30 a.m. on the 24th at Yangji Park.
