'Up to 100,000 KRW Provided for Reducing Vehicle Use'... Ulsan City Implements Car Carbon Neutrality Points This Year
Applications for 3,527 Vehicles Accepted on a First-Come, First-Served Basis Starting February 24
Ulsan City will implement the ‘2025 Automobile Carbon Neutrality Points’ program, which evaluates the reduction in vehicle mileage and provides incentives.
This system has been in place since 2020 to promote greenhouse gas reduction and the culture of eco-friendly driving.
This year, 3,527 vehicles will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis from February 24 to March 7.
The eligible vehicles are non-commercial passenger cars and vans (up to 12 seats) powered by gasoline, diesel, or LPG; electric, hybrid, hydrogen vehicles, and vehicles registered in other cities or provinces are excluded.
Applicants can apply through the Automobile Carbon Neutrality Points website starting February 24. Previous participants can log in with their existing ID and reapply.
Only one vehicle per person (based on ownership) can be registered, and the application must be made under the vehicle owner’s name. Participation is limited to photos taken during the recruitment period.
The reduction performance is calculated by the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute by comparing past mileage after participants register on the Automobile Carbon Neutrality Points website and submit photos of the vehicle’s license plate and odometer at the start and end of participation.
Ulsan City plans to provide a performance bonus (incentive) of up to 100,000 KRW at the end of this year based on the mileage reduction results.
For further inquiries, check the ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ section in the Open Forum on the Carbon Neutrality Points (Automobile) website, or contact the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute or Ulsan City’s Haeuli Call Center.
An official from Ulsan City stated, “Carbon neutrality-related campaigns such as Sseudam Running (plogging: picking up trash while running) and Zero Waste (reducing disposable product use and using recyclables) are spreading and creating a culture of practice. We hope that the Automobile Carbon Neutrality Points program will also become a natural means of establishing eco-friendly practices in daily life.”
