At the rally, over 200 participants, including Kim Yungrok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, Kim Taegyun, Chairman of the Jeollanam-do Provincial Council, Kim Sung, Chairman of the Jeonnam Mayors and County Governors Association, and 16 mayors and county governors, reaffirmed their commitment through the recitation of a resolution and joint signing of a proposal.
This year marks a crucial period for the establishment of major national plans for social infrastructure, including the 5th National Railroad Network Construction Plan (2026-2035), the 3rd Expressway Construction Plan (2026-2030), and the 6th National and Local Road Construction Plan (2026-2030).
Jeollanam-do is continuously submitting proposals to central government agencies and the National Assembly to ensure that 33 key projects, totaling 52.1 trillion won, are included in these national plans.
By sector: for railways, 8 projects including the Honam High-Speed Railway and Gyeongjeon Line connection, West Coast Railway, Gwangju-Hwasun Metropolitan Railway, and Beolgyo-Goheung connection railway, totaling 36.4 trillion won; for expressways, 5 projects including the Yeongam-Gwangju super-highway, Goheung-Gwangju Space Expressway, and Yeosu-Suncheon, totaling 12.4 trillion won; for national and local roads, 20 projects including Goheung-Bongrae, Wando Yaksan-Geumil bridge, and Suncheon Haeryong national road bypass, totaling 3.3 trillion won.
Among these, 20 national and local road projects were selected as preliminary feasibility study targets in January, allowing them to proceed ahead of other projects.
Governor Kim stated, "Social infrastructure (SOC) projects such as railways and roads are essential not only for the development of Jeonnam but also for the country's future," and added, "We will focus all administrative efforts to ensure that Jeonnam's key projects are included in the national plans for securing residents' basic transportation rights and achieving balanced national development."
