The scale of the supplementary budget increased by 35.11 billion KRW, or 0.5% compared to the original budget, totaling 6.71226 trillion KRW.
The committee included management recovery support funds to help local small business owners and self-employed individuals overcome crises caused by prolonged economic downturns, such as high inflation and high interest rates, and reviewed the proposal as originally submitted.
During the review of the supplementary budget proposal, council members pointed out issues such as insufficient consultation with the council.
Min Kyungbae, chairperson of the Special Committee on Budget and Accounts (People Power Party, Jung-gu 3), said, "It appears that a special budget allocation has been made to protect small business owners whose business conditions are deteriorating due to prolonged high inflation, high interest rates, and economic recession, and to ensure their management stability and recovery." However, he also pointed out problems such as insufficient consultation with the council during the project implementation process and inaccurate revenue estimates.
Jung Myungkuk (People Power Party, Dong-gu 3) also said, "While I agree that the supplementary budget is appropriate, there are procedural issues since some work is being carried out before the budget is approved."
Kim Youngsam (People Power Party, Seo-gu 2) also stated, "Although I agree with the supplementary budget, it lacks objective justification," and criticized, "Smooth consultation with district offices is necessary, and sufficient nationwide objective data should have been secured before proceeding with the supplementary budget."
