Imsil County Expands Support for Early Scrapping of Old Vehicles
540 Million KRW Invested
Support Expanded to 202 Vehicles
Imsil County in North Jeolla Province announced on the 19th that it will expand its early vehicle scrappage support project to include 202 old vehicles, investing a budget of 540 million KRW to reduce fine dust and achieve carbon neutrality in response to the climate crisis.
Applications can be submitted starting from the 20th by visiting the Environmental Protection Division at the county office, each town or township office, or through the online Automobile Emissions Integrated Information System.
The eligible vehicles for early scrappage support are Grade 4 diesel vehicles and Grade 5 vehicles, road construction machinery of type 3 (dump trucks, concrete mixer trucks, concrete pump trucks) manufactured before August 31, 2009, and forklifts and excavators manufactured before December 31, 2004. However, vehicles that have been deemed unfit in regular inspections or have already been retrofitted with emission reduction devices or converted to low-emission engines with government support are excluded.
Starting this year, Grade 5 vehicles using fuels other than diesel, such as gasoline or gas, are also eligible to apply. For Grade 5 vehicles with a total weight of less than 3.5 tons, up to 3 million KRW will be provided at a 100% basic support rate, and an additional 50% basic support rate will be granted when purchasing a new vehicle.
County Governor Sim Min said, "As a green leader responding to the climate crisis, the interest and participation of residents are essential to achieve the 2050 carbon neutrality goal," adding, "This is a great opportunity for residents to receive subsidies and contribute to reducing fine dust, so we ask for your active interest and participation."
