Now Able to Make WeChat Pay QR Payments with Shinhan SOL Pay
13% Cashback and Fee Reduction Until April 30
From now on, UnionPay Shinhan Card customers will be able to make QR payments at WeChat Pay merchants in China.
On the 19th, Shinhan Card announced that UnionPay Shinhan Card customers can now make payments with Shinhan SOL Pay in China through the 'WeChat Pay-linked QR Payment Service.'
In September 2023, Shinhan Card launched the UnionPay QR payment service, allowing payments with Shinhan SOL Pay at global stores displaying the UnionPay QR logo.
This time, WeChat Pay has been integrated into the UnionPay QR payment service. It can be used at UnionPay merchants as well as WeChat Pay merchants within China.
Shinhan Card stated, "We plan to actively target the widespread QR payment market in China going forward."
They are also running an event for UnionPay Shinhan credit card customers in the Greater China region.
From today until April 30, an event will be held in four regions?China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan?offering a 10% cashback on the total spending when paying with a UnionPay Shinhan credit card.
Additional benefits have also been prepared. Customers who make QR payments with Shinhan SOL Pay will receive an extra 2% cashback, or if they register and pay with the UnionPay Shinhan Card on the Alipay or WeChat Pay apps, a 3% payment fee waiver will be provided. Customers can choose either option.
Cashback is provided when the total spending across the four regions exceeds $100. The maximum cashback amount is up to 200,000 KRW based on the Korean won conversion rate.

In addition to this WeChat Pay-linked QR payment service, Shinhan Card also offers contactless Visa, Mastercard, and UnionPay Shinhan Card overseas near-field communication (NFC) payment services for contactless terminals in China.
