Extracurricular programs are educational programs offered separately from the curricular education courses, including special lectures, mentoring, contests, camps, and more. Currently, Dong-A University operates about 500 extracurricular programs annually, with over 20,000 enrolled students (including multiple participations) taking part, achieving excellent results in extracurricular program operation and participation every year.
The DECO Scholarship Award ceremony was held to select students with outstanding extracurricular activity achievements during the 2024 academic year, share excellent results, and encourage more students to take an interest in extracurricular education.
The Center for Educational Innovation at Dong-A University evaluated accumulated extracurricular activity points, the number of completed programs, competency scores, and more over the past year to select a total of 230 scholarship recipients: Grand Prize (10 students), Excellence Award (40 students), Merit Award (60 students), and Encouragement Award (120 students).
Kim Suhwan (3rd year, Department of Business Administration), selected as the Grand Prize recipient of the DECO Scholarship, said, “I am deeply honored to be selected as the Grand Prize winner for the second time this year following last year. Through participating in extracurricular programs, I gained learning know-how and useful information for planning my career path. These were beneficial experiences for myself, and receiving the DECO Scholarship feels like my efforts have been rewarded. I will actively participate again next year and strive to achieve good results.”
The DECO Supporters are a promotional and evaluation group representing the Center for Educational Innovation, conducting activities such as promoting on-campus extracurricular programs and collecting and surveying student opinions related to extracurricular education.
At the event, five students including Oh Sieun (4th year, Department of Management Information Systems) received certificates for completing the 10th term, and five students including Hwang Nayun (2nd year, Department of Management Information Systems) received certificates for completing the 11th term.
