Cheongyang County to Provide Up to 300,000 KRW in Jeonse Deposit Return Guarantee Fees
On the 18th, Cheongyang County in South Chungcheong Province announced that it would provide up to 300,000 KRW in support for the guarantee fee of the Jeonse Deposit Return Guarantee, in order to prevent Jeonse fraud and alleviate the financial burden on tenants.
The support is available to tenants who, as of the application date, are enrolled in a valid Jeonse Deposit Return Guarantee (HUG, HF, SGI) with a deposit of 300 million KRW or less. Eligible applicants are youth (ages 19-39) with an annual income of 50 million KRW or less, those aged 40 or above with an income of 60 million KRW or less, and newlyweds with an income of 75 million KRW or less, all of whom must be non-homeowners residing in Cheongyang County according to their resident registration.
However, foreigners and overseas Koreans not residing in Korea, tenants living in rental housing registered under the “Special Act on Private Rental Housing,” tenants who are corporations (such as company-provided accommodations), and those holding pre-sale or occupancy rights are excluded.
Applicants wishing to receive support must visit the relevant town or township office, or the Housing Team of the County Urban Architecture Division, with the application form and pledge, the Jeonse Deposit Return Guarantee certificate and proof of guarantee fee payment, resident registration certificate, lease contract, complete real estate registration certificate, marriage certificate, a copy of their bank account under their name, and proof of income.
A county official stated, “We expect that the support program for Jeonse Deposit Return Guarantee fees will provide practical help in alleviating the financial burden on non-homeowner tenants and preventing Jeonse fraud.”
