"Compensation for Non-Emergency Dog Bite Treatment"... Gangnam-gu Expands Coverage of Resident Safety Insurance
Automatic Enrollment, Claims Must Be Filed Within 3 Years of the Accident
Gangnam-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) is expanding the coverage items of the 'Resident Safety Insurance' to ensure that residents can receive practical compensation even in unexpected accidents in their daily lives.
The Resident Safety Insurance, which is automatically applied to all Gangnam-gu residents without any separate subscription procedure, is a system designed to protect residents from various disasters and accidents. This year, it is again composed mainly of comprehensive injury medical expenses. In particular, from this year, non-emergency hospital treatment costs for dog bite accidents and injury treatment costs for children injured in traffic accidents while walking have been newly added.
This year's coverage includes a total of nine items: ▲Injury death (5 million KRW) ▲Injury permanent disability (up to 5 million KRW) ▲Injury diagnosis lump sum (100,000 KRW for 4-5 weeks diagnosis, 150,000 KRW for 6 weeks or more) ▲Public transportation injury treatment expenses (up to 1 million KRW) ▲Compensation for sexual violence crime victims (up to 5 million KRW) ▲Compensation for violent crime victims (1 million KRW) ▲Burn surgery expenses (1 million KRW) ▲Dog bite accident hospital treatment expenses (up to 200,000 KRW) ▲Injury treatment expenses for children injured in traffic accidents while walking (up to 5 million KRW).
Previously, compensation was only available for emergency room treatment due to dog bite accidents, but from this year, non-emergency hospital treatment is also covered. Additionally, children injured in traffic accidents while walking can receive treatment expenses support of up to 5 million KRW.
Gangnam-gu Resident Safety Insurance automatically enrolls all residents registered in Gangnam-gu, and benefits can be received regardless of the location where the accident occurs. Even if individuals have personal insurance, overlapping compensation is possible, and insurance claims must be made within three years from the date of the accident.
