LG Display Targets Gaming Market with World's Best Quality OLED Monitor Panels
LG Display is accelerating its entry into the premium gaming display market by starting mass production of the world’s highest resolution OLED monitor panels.
On the 18th, LG Display announced that it will mass-produce a 45-inch gaming OLED panel supporting 5K2K (5120×2160) resolution. This product features top-level screen clarity, refresh rate (number of screen updates per second), and response speed, and offers an immersive gaming environment with perfect black expression.
The newly mass-produced OLED panel has a higher resolution than before, with approximately 11 million pixels making up the screen. It provides a much clearer image, having more than five times the pixels of a standard Full HD (1920×1080) display and about 1.3 times more than UHD (3840×2160). It is also suitable as a professional monitor and can be used for design and video editing work that requires high resolution.
Brightness is also at the highest level. LG Display’s new product achieves a maximum brightness of 1300 nits, delivering a clearer screen. Increased brightness enhances contrast expression, strengthening the sense of depth. Additionally, the panel reduces glare and light reflection, maintaining clear visuals in any environment.
LG Display applied technology that allows users to directly select their preferred screen settings in this product. Through this, users can choose between a high-speed screen refresh mode (Full HD·330Hz) and a high-resolution mode (5K2K·165Hz) according to their needs.
The 330Hz high-speed refresh mode provides smooth, uninterrupted visuals essential for shooting or racing games where instantaneous response is critical, while the 5K2K ultra-high-resolution mode delivers sharper image quality for graphics-intensive games or movie viewing.
This product features a wide 21:9 aspect ratio to enhance immersion and allows multiple tasks to be performed simultaneously without using dual monitors, thereby improving work efficiency. The screen ratio, similar to that of a movie theater screen, also makes it suitable for watching online video service (OTT) content.
LG Display explained that the OLED panel realizes deeper image quality by utilizing its self-emitting light characteristic, unlike conventional liquid crystal displays (LCDs). The amount of harmful blue light emitted is about half that of LCDs, and flicker has been reduced to prevent eye fatigue even during extended use.
LG Display plans to expand its product lineup and accelerate market penetration by producing gaming OLED panels in various sizes including 27-inch, 31.5-inch, 34-inch, 39-inch, and 45-inch.
