DH Autoware Tests Autonomous Driving Core Component Prototypes at North American Factory
DH AutoWare, a specialized automotive electronics company, announced on the 17th that it is conducting prototype tests with Hyundai Motor and Kia for autonomous driving core components produced at its North American factory. DH AutoWare expects full-scale parts supply to begin as early as March.
DH AutoWare was selected as a localized production partner for Hyundai Motor Group in North America in June last year. It signed a parts supply contract for seven years, from March this year to 2032. Securing a stable volume, the company made a strategic decision to establish a new factory in the Monterrey region of Mexico.
With the completion of the factory in October last year, the first prototype supply was completed. In December, the factory certification was obtained. The North American factory plans to produce essential components for autonomous driving and connected car technologies, such as the CCU (Central Communication Unit), DCU (Data Communication Unit), and BDC (Body Domain Controller).
As autonomous driving technology advances, integration of in-vehicle control systems is accelerating. The existing 100 or so controllers are expected to be consolidated into 4 to 5 units in the future. DH AutoWare will prioritize supplying parts produced at the North American factory to Hyundai Motor and Kia in line with these market changes. Subsequently, it plans to expand supply to global automakers in the North American market.
A DH AutoWare official said, “The operation of the North American factory following the full-scale parts supply is expected to be an important milestone for DH AutoWare’s entry into the global market,” adding, “By stably supplying essential components for autonomous driving and connected car technologies, we will further strengthen DH AutoWare’s global technological capabilities and competitiveness.”
