Yeongju City Health Center Shifts Focus from Regulation to Coexistence-Centered Approach
Providing a Safe Hygiene Environment,
Expanding Practical Support for Business Owners
Yeongju City Public Health Center (Director Kim Moon-su) announced on the 14th that it will shift from the existing hygiene administration focused on guidance and inspection to a win-win administration that provides citizens with a safe hygiene environment and expands practical support for business owners.
To this end, the roles of the dedicated organization have been adjusted: the Food Management Team will be responsible for licensing and guidance/inspection of food and public hygiene establishments, while the Food Policy Team will plan and implement various support projects for hygiene improvement and business owner assistance. It is expected that this will strengthen the expertise in hygiene management and enable the discovery and promotion of effective support projects.
Support for improving hygiene environments and strengthening the competitiveness of the dining industry will also be expanded. Up to 4 million KRW will be provided for facility improvement costs to outdated beauty salons and laundries, and general and casual restaurants will receive support for purchasing smart devices and facility improvements through the ‘K-Dining Industry Infrastructure Establishment Project.’
Additionally, by selecting and promoting ‘Yeongju Matjip’ (Yeongju’s Best Restaurants), the plan aims to raise the level of local food culture and contribute to tourism revitalization. Various customized supports to improve hygiene levels and alleviate management burdens will continue to be provided.
Kim Moon-su, Director of Yeongju City Public Health Center, stated, “There are limitations to managing hygiene and regulations solely through enforcement and punishment,” adding, “We will strengthen practical administrative and financial support so that business owners can voluntarily participate in hygiene improvement.” He continued, “We will do our best to provide citizens with a safe hygiene environment and create stable management conditions for business owners.”
