Supreme Court Chief Justice Appoints Kim Dae-woong, Seoul High Court Chief Judge, as New Central Election Commission Member
Chief Justice Cho Hee-dae has nominated Kim Dae-woong (Judicial Research and Training Institute class 19), President of the Seoul High Court, as a member of the National Election Commission. This appointment comes as the term of current member Kim Chang-bo is set to expire on the 18th of next month.
On the 13th, the Supreme Court stated, "The nominee, Kim, is a seasoned judge who has dedicated himself to faithfully guaranteeing the people's right to a fair trial through his extensive legal knowledge and outstanding practical judicial skills while handling various judicial duties." It added, "He is widely respected both inside and outside the court, and is expected to perform excellently in his role as a member of the National Election Commission."

Chief Justice Cho plans to soon request a confirmation hearing from the National Assembly for Kim's appointment. Kim began his judicial career in 1993 at the Suwon District Court and has since served as a professor at the Judicial Research and Training Institute, chief judge of the 22nd Criminal Division and the 51st Civil Division at the Seoul Central District Court, chief judge at the Gwangju High Court, chief judge at the Seoul High Court, and senior chief judge at the Incheon District Court.
