Kim Taekyun Joins as CBO, Accelerating Global Expansion
Collaboration Models Tailored to Customer Capabilities
Pursuing Diversification of Customer Base and Business Structure
Semiconductor design company Pado announced that it has recruited a Chief Business Officer (CBO) to strengthen its global business and will actively promote its customer-tailored solution, 'Flex SSD' business.
According to Pado on the 13th, Vice President Kim Taekyun, who joined Pado as CBO at the end of last year, is a global business expert with over 30 years of experience in the semiconductor industry. He has accumulated extensive experience in new business strategy formulation and business promotion while serving as a leader in strategic planning and business analysis in the DS division at Samsung Electronics. Pado explained, "With the addition of Kim Taekyun CBO, who possesses broad strategic planning capabilities and a global network built in the semiconductor industry, Pado's entry into overseas markets is expected to accelerate further."
Flex SSD is a compound word of 'Flexible,' meaning flexibility, and Pado's core business, 'Solid State Drive (SSD).' It is an SSD solution that allows customers to flexibly manufacture and mass-produce products by selecting the elements they need directly.
Through this, Pado provides comprehensive solutions including controllers, firmware, manufacturing, and technical support, while offering various collaboration models ranging from purchasing finished products to joint development according to the capabilities and needs of customer companies. Based on its core competencies throughout the entire SSD development and production process, Pado plans to provide customized solutions to various customer groups such as data center operators and SSD and NAND flash suppliers.
Along with recruiting the CBO, Pado has also embarked on building an aggressive sales organization. The strategy is to maximize sales efficiency by introducing a bold reward system based on performance for overseas sales staff and strengthening the global network for systematic communication with customers.
Holding high-performance, low-power solid-state drive (SSD) controller design technology as its core competitiveness, Pado is accelerating its global market penetration with the recruitment of the CBO. Based on PCIe 5th generation high-performance SSD controller technology, Pado has been strengthening cooperation with global big tech companies and plans to introduce the Flex SSD business model as a new growth engine in 2025, expanding the market through customized solutions.
Additionally, Pado is pursuing diversification of customer base and business structure. It explained that it expects to secure new customer segments such as SSD suppliers requiring proprietary solutions and rebranding distributors, in addition to existing customers. It also anticipates building long-term partnerships with customers through customized services and securing a stable revenue base.
CBO Kim said, "Pado's Flex SSD is a customized collaboration model that grows together with customers beyond simple product supply," adding, "It will be an innovative solution that efficiently utilizes resources necessary for product development and mass production while shortening market entry time and minimizing risks."
Last year, Pado achieved new orders worth 62.4 billion KRW. It signed SSD controller supply contracts totaling 27.8 billion KRW in four rounds with overseas NAND flash manufacturers, and quarterly sales steadily grew with 2.3 billion KRW in Q1, 7.1 billion KRW in Q2, 10.1 billion KRW in Q3, and 24 billion KRW in Q4. This year, it has also succeeded in continuous orders from domestic and international flash memory companies.
