SME Ombudsman to Conduct Biweekly On-site Visits to Small and Micro SMEs and Small Business Owners
Responsible Guidance from Open Discussion Meetings to Inter-Ministerial Consultations and Final Results
The Small and Medium Business Ombudsman announced on the 13th that it will promote on-site visits to small-scale small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and small business owners twice a month. The purpose of this activity is to more actively listen to the voices of small-scale cooperative groups that lack communication channels with the government and to address related regulations and difficulties.
So far, the Ombudsman has held regular meetings with SMEs and small business owners in collaboration with related organizations such as local governments and the Small and Medium Business Corporation. However, there was no proper channel to directly hear the voices of small-scale cooperative groups to which many small-scale SMEs and small business owners belong.
Accordingly, the Ombudsman decided to regularly visit small-scale cooperative groups consisting of small-scale SMEs and small business owners to listen to their stories on site. Previously, the Ombudsman visited Yeongdeungpo Cheonggwa Market on the 20th of last month and Guro Machinery Tool Market on the 5th of this month to hear various opinions, and plans to visit small cooperative groups more than twice a month going forward.
If any issues raised on site are judged to be reasonable for improvement, the Ombudsman will immediately assign a person in charge within the Ombudsman Support Group to consult with the relevant ministries and take responsibility for guiding the results.

Choi Seung-jae, the Ombudsman, said, “Although the Ombudsman has been conducting activities visiting various sites, it is very meaningful to open a channel to listen to the voices of small SMEs and small business owners who have been relatively neglected in the process. We will strive to listen to a wider range of opinions, both big and small, and resolve them firmly.”
