Seoul Voice Reporter Suspected of Stalking Summoned by Police Over 'Kim Geon-hee Luxury Bag Report'
Lee Myeong-su, a reporter from Seoul Voice who secretly filmed and reported a video of handing a luxury bag to First Lady Kim Geon-hee, wife of President Yoon Seok-yeol, was summoned by the police on the 12th.
The Seocho Police Station in Seoul is investigating the reporter as a suspect from around 2 p.m. on the same day on charges of violating the Stalking Punishment Act.
The reporter arrived at the police station at around 1:50 p.m. and said, "Isn't all reporting and coverage for the public interest? Since I have never stalked anyone, I think I need to undergo the investigation to know (about the charges)." When asked, "What do you think about being charged with violating the Stalking Punishment Act for posting the video?" he replied, "If that is the case, reporters in the Republic of Korea would not be able to report on anything they investigate."

The reporter is accused of secretly filming a video with a wristwatch-type camera when Pastor Choi Jae-young handed a luxury bag worth about 3 million won to Mrs. Kim on September 13, 2022, and reporting it in November of the following year. The investigation began after a conservative group filed a complaint in January last year against Pastor Choi, the reporter, and others for violating the Stalking Punishment Act.
