If the rescue had been delayed further, there was a risk of hypothermia, potentially resulting in the loss of a precious life.
The Coast Guard arrived at the scene within three minutes of receiving the report, secured a rope around Mr. A's body, and, together with the crew, safely pulled him out of the water and checked his condition. It was reported that Mr. A had slipped on the pier stairs and fallen into the water while disembarking after docking, but fortunately, he suffered no health issues.
A representative from the Jindo Police Substation stated, "The initial response by the first person to discover a drowning victim is extremely important in such accidents," and added, "If you witness a drowning, please look for a lifesaving device or any buoyant object nearby and throw it to the victim to help secure the golden time until the Coast Guard arrives."
