View original imageOn the 10th, Dangjin City in South Chungcheong Province announced on the 11th that it received an institutional commendation in the disaster safety merit category at the "2025 National Heritage Disaster Prevention Day Awards Ceremony" held at the National Palace Museum of Korea.
The National Heritage Administration held an open call for commendation candidates in December 2024 to discover and promote outstanding cases of cooperation in national heritage disaster safety work and to foster pride among those involved in national heritage affairs.
As a result of the review, Dangjin City was selected as the only local government nationwide to receive the institutional commendation. The city was highly evaluated for its consistent implementation of various policies in the field of national heritage disaster safety in 2024.
The city promoted initiatives such as: △allocating and executing emergency repair budgets for national heritage disaster preparedness △thorough daily safety management of wooden cultural heritage △preparing manuals for national heritage disaster response systems △establishing disaster prevention systems through regular safety inspections △and allocating the 2025 budget for national heritage disaster preparedness.
Gong Youngsik, head of the Culture and Sports Division, said, "This institutional commendation is a valuable result of our city's dedicated efforts to protect national heritage," and added, "We will continue to do our best to preserve our precious national heritage and prevent any damage."
